Because our school is located in a precautionary/yellow zone, our school will have mandatory weekly COVID-19 testing for a random sample of students and staff as required by the State for schools located in these zones.
Proud to congratulate our IS24 alumni on their achievements! The definition of the Pride of Great Kills!
Today we are writing to inform you, out of an abundance of caution, of a potential case of COVID-19 in our school community.
Please see information related to changes taking place at our school. Some of these changes are necessary based on the Grading Policy Guidance for remote and Blended Learning provided by the NYC Department of Education.
School Closed- Veteran's Day (No in-person or Remote Instruction on this day)
Today we are writing to inform you that one member of our school community has tested positive for COVID-19. At this time, this is the only confirmed case at the school. We are quickly taking all appropriate action and following rigorous protocols developed by the NYC Test + Trace Corps, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health), and the New York City Department of Education (DOE).
Our school is continuing to make several changes to student programming which will impact or has already impacted programs at this time. These changes will be made within this month and we hope to have all changes made sometime on or around November 27, 2020 as we wait for more instructions from the Department of Education
Please be advised our school was selected for random COVID-19 testing of students and staff today. This is part of the monthly testing taking place in all public schools throughout New York City. Attached you will find the notice which was sent home with students who were tested today
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOUR CHILD IS TAKING PART IN REMOTE LEARNING AND YOU HAVE RECEIVED A WARNING LETTER AND HAS NOT YET MET ALL REQUIRED VACCINATIONS BY NOVEMBER 11TH, YOUR CHILD WILL BE EXCLUDED FROM REMOTE LEARNING DUE TO INCOMPLETE SCHOOL IMMUNIZATIONS.
We have been notified that the testing provider will be at our school within the next week. Please note that only New York City public school students from grades 1-12 are eligible to be tested.
