8th Annual ‘Stand Up. Stop Bullying.’ Art & Writing Contest to Schools

We are excited to announce that RCDA’s 8th Annual ‘Stand Up. Stop Bullying.’ Art & Writing Contest to Schools has officially started!

We want to fight against this trend and bring awareness to the issue with this annual campaign. This all-schools Art & Writing Contest is designed for students to showcase their feelings regarding respect and tolerance for all people by expressing their opposition to bullying through art. We want to thank you for your continued support of this effort and ask you to encourage your students to participate in this initiative.

Attached are our contest rules—yes, we are bringing back an official contest! There will be one (1) 1st Place winner and one (1) Runner-up selected by grade and by category. Your students will be competing against their peers from across Staten Island (last year, we received over 600 submissions!).

Our contest rules are attached, but here are some things to remember:

  • Posters must be an original design and hand-drawn. Any clip art or posters containing graphic images will not be considered.
  • Posters must be on 8 ½” x 11” paper and include our slogan, ‘Stand Up. Stop Bullying.’ or a similar slogan created by the student.
  • Neatly written or typed essays or poems are accepted. Must be an original work of no more than 500 words.
  • For contest consideration, each student may only choose to do a poster or a writing piece, but not both.
  • The full name and class or grade of the artist clearly written must accompany each submission. In the past, teachers have provided a typed list of this information included in their mailing.
  • The deadline for submissions to be received is Monday, March 25th, 2024.
  • Send all submissions to me at:

Office of the Richmond County District Attorney

Attn: Agnes McBeth, Education Liaison, CPU

130 Stuyvesant Place, 8th fl.

Staten Island, NY 10301

(Electronic submissions may be emailed to [email protected].)

All participants and a parent will be invited to attend our in-person Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024, 6:30 pm at The College of Staten Island. More details will follow soon.
