A Note from Mr. Santamaria

Dear Students and Families,

The past four months of this school year you have shown patience, resilience, disappointment at times, confusion, and all other types of behavior and emotions in between. I am standing right by your side for each of these moments as I experience them all with you.  I have also seen sacrifice, teamwork, charity, hope and pride and that is what makes I.S. 24 a special place with very special people. As it has been a year like no other, we hope for a 2021 which will bring back celebrations, experiences and hope for better times ahead. I think we all need it!

I want to share how proud I have been to watch our students and staff come back to school this year while following all safety measures, families who have made sacrifices for children to keep learning remotely, and faculty members who have turned their homes into classrooms for remote learning to take place. It has been inspirational but, in the end,, we wish for nothing more than to have everybody back under the school roof.

On behalf of myself, the administration, and the entire faculty & staff we would like to send all students and families who have already celebrated Hanukkah and will be celebrating the Christmas and the New Year holiday our warmest wishes. As a reminder, the Winter Recess is December 24th-January 1st and remote learning will continue Monday, January 4th. Please continue to remain healthy and safe and we will see you in 2021 which we hope will be filled with better times in a new year.

Sincerely,

Lenny Santamaria

Principal
