After School Program:  Fall Session

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are pleased to inform you that I.S. 24 is fortunate to be able to offer your child an opportunity to participate in our Self Sustaining After School Program (SSASP). In an effort to enrich your child’s middle school experience we are offering a variety of extra-curricular activities (see below). 

Each program will be held on Tuesday through Friday, from 2:21-3:51 or Wednesday and Thursday nights from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.  The cost of each program is $185.00 for a seven (7) week session. Please note some programs may have an additional supply fee.

Only Credit Cards using our online payment form will be accepted. No cash, money orders, or personal checks will be accepted.  No transportation will be provided for this special program.  Please complete the registration form online.  You can access your registration form online at www.barnes24.org application and payment are due by October 3, 2025. 

Also note that if a particular activity has low registration, we will be unable to sustain the activity. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Doyle in Room 315 or Mrs. O'Connor in the gymnasium with any questions. 

General policies: Registration fees are refundable minus the credit card fee only if a class is canceled.  Classes will be canceled in the event of insufficient enrollment.  Your child will be accepted to the program upon receipt of both the registration and fees.  Placement into a class goes according to availability. There will be no bus transportation available. Failure to pick up your child at dismissal of the program may lead to the removal from the program. After our program, students enrolled in the UAU program may attend the UAU program until 5 PM.

Pep Band: Mrs. Yuzuk and Mr. Barry  $185.00

Pep Band is all about school spirit! Pep band will perform after school during the student basketball games and pep rallies. Pep band requires the least amount of experience and is all about pumping up the crowd and having fun!

Yoga: Mrs. Redondo  $185.00

Explore the power of Mindful Movement! Students are invited to discover how physical activity not only builds strength and flexibility but also enhances social and emotional well-being.

Chess Club: Ms. Ginos  $185.00

Students will learn how the pieces move, to play a chess game from start to finish, and to develop strategies. Students will have the opportunity to play a tournament competition as part of the chess club.

Painting: Ms. Virone  $205.00

Participants will refine their skills and techniques, adding layers and depth to their artwork. This collaborative experience encourages self-expression and artistic growth, culminating in a unique and personal masterpiece.  Please note this activity has an included $20 material fee (12 students maximum)

Cheerleading: Ms. Bonomi and Ms. Coppola  $185

Show your school spirit! Students will learn sideline cheers and choreography to support their Barnes Sharks!

STEM Warriors: Mrs. D.Amoroso $185.00

At STEM Warriors, we help students uncover the excitement and adventure in the world of science, technology, engineering and math.Students will learn many new STEM skills and develop a love of all things science!  Maximum 18 Students

Pickleball: Mr. Anthony $185.00

Join us to play! Our Intramural pickleball program is suitable for players of all ages and skill levels, has simple rules, and is low impact. All equipment will be provided. 

Guitar Ensemble: Mr. Barry $185.00

Unleash your inner rockstar! Intermediate to experienced guitar players are welcome. 

Crochet:Mrs. Margolis $205.00 

Students will learn to crochet using large knit yarn to create a throw blanket and scarves and/or bags.Please note this activity has an included $20 material fee (Maximum of 18 students)

Baking: Ms. Ginos $205.00

Who doesn't love a sweet treat after a long day? "Treat" yourself! You'll learn the basics of baking, decorating, and preparing desserts. (Maximum of 16 students) Please note this activity has an included $20 material fee

Minecraft: Mr. Laporta $185.00

Minecraft Club is an opportunity for students to work together on a team build using Minecraft Education Edition.

Get ready to hit the court with our Intramural Basketball Program! This fun and engaging program is perfect for students of all skill levels who want to improve their basketball abilities, make new friends, and stay active.

Holiday Crafts:Mrs. Margolis $205.00

Students will be using their creativity, and  imagination to make gifts.  We will be creating wreaths and jewelry for the Season from start to finish! Each student will take home their creative crafts to proudly display and celebrate the seasons. Please note this activity has an included $20 material fee

Pit Band: Pit Band: Mrs. Yuzuk $185.00 

Students will perform the music for the actors in the school play. It is the most challenging band program we offer. In addition to our after school program, rehearsals will be scheduled during the December winter break. Details to follow. 

Social Corner/ Board Games: Ms. Scarimbolo  $185.00 

Come make new friends and meet new people in a safe welcoming environment after school.  Get to know your fellow classmates by playing games and interacting with other students.

Coding: Mrs. Portalatin $185.00 

An introduction to coding for beginners.  You will learn how to add code, costumes, and sounds to characters as you make animations, a game, and a book.

Thursday Night Center 5:00 - 6:30

Intramural Soccer: Mr. Brancato $185.00

Develop your soccer skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Whether you are a beginner or have experience playing, this program offers fun and inclusive space for all skill levels.

Friday 2:21-3:51 

3D Printing: Mr. LaPorta and Mr. Maccariello  $205.00

Explore the 3D printing process from beginning to end. We will learn how to design 3D models with Tinkercad software. Please note this activity has an included $20 material fee (24 students maximum)

Journalism: Miss Pearce $185.00

Learn how to gather information, interview, and write articles while building research, communication, and critical-thinking skills. We will put everything we have learned into creating a school newspaper!

Beginner Guitar: Mr. Barry $185.00

Unleash your inner rockstar! All guitar players are welcome. No experience, no problem this experience is going to get you on your path to learning guitar.

Jewelry Making: Ms. Scarimbolo  $205.00 

Each week students will learn how to make different bracelet patterns. Students will express themselves through design, color, and patterns, nurturing their individuality and imagination. Please note this activity has an included $20 material fee 

Volleyball: Ms. Cios and Ms. Sizlewski $185.00

Basic volleyball skills such as passing and serving will be worked on during this program. Small group practice and competition will be focused on to encourage skill development and sportsmanship.

Fencing $185

(Maximum of 24 students) En Garde! Come put your plastron and pommel on during an invigorating fencing match.  Learn how to lunge, glide, disengage, and demonstrate your deception skills.
